Noisette's gone home......

....and Sky's not too happy! Despite the fact that Noisette was pretty mean to her, she has been running around neighing for her since she left. She's shown me her heels a few times too. Mademoiselle a du caractere, je crois......
Poor Kinna doesn't know what to do, every time she tries to get near Sky she gets chased away.....then she comes over to me for a bit of reassurance, hopefully Sky will start being nice to her once she realises Noisette isn't coming back.

The Secret Diary of Skyfaxa, aged 8 1/2 months....

So there I was, happily sharing a field with a vertically challenged and occasionally grumpy fluffy pony, when who should turn up but a great big hairy white(ish) monster with a serious attitute problem. I had already met his shorter, rounder but equally white(ish) sidekick a couple of weeks ago and, apart from routinely trying to scarf my lunch, he seemed nice enough. This new hairy one though, he is not a happy bunny. He immediately started pushing the pony around.......and she usually pushes ME around, so imagine how scary he must be!!! Then it was my turn, he chased me away from the others down to the end of the field, I moved pretty sharpish, I can tell you, so fast that the funny shaped one (who doesn't smell like a horse, but gives me nice scratches and lots of FOOD) didn't even manage to get me in the photo...........I am not happy, I have to be shut in the stable now at food time or I don't get to eat my dinner in peace. Hopefully he won't be around for too long........

All four together

Brought the big boys down here yesterday as Jane's off to England and it's much easier for me to look after them here.

It was raining, we got soaked.

The girls didn't seem too impressed to see them either!!

It's rained all night, they boys are a nice black colour this morning.........

All cosy for the night.....

Just been out to check on the menagerie, I love the way the chooks all line up on the gate to sleep!

Even though it's the coldest weather of the winter so far, the chooks and ducks are still laying well. My restauranteur friends will be pleased!

More snow......

The cats are none too impressed........

I love the way Noisette is so well insulated the snow doesn't melt on her back.

The farrier came.....

Skyfaxa has never had anything done to her feet except me lifting them up and occasionally picking them out but she was such a good girl for the first ever farrier visit today....

She hardly moved at all, just a couple of times because she couldn't get her balance.

Then it was Noisette's turn, she took one look at the farrier and tried to run away!! This is the first time she's ever been worried about anything! But once she realised it didn't hurt, she was fine and Sky came to see what the fuss was about..!

One out and one in.....

Flecha's new owner came to get him on Friday, true to form he ambled into the trailer no problem and immediately started tucking into the haynet she'd brought for him. She phoned later to say he'd arrived after his 2 and a half hour trip as cool as a cucumber, went into the field with his new Shetland friend and they sniffed each other then started eating! He's made friends with the Fjords in the next field too! So no worries there......we'll go up and see them in a couple of weeks and get some pics.

Then on Saturday we went to fetch Noisette, she was a star! She's never been out of the field she was born in 6 years ago, she's never been on her own away from her mother and sister, but it only took about 10 minutes to tempt her into the trailer with a few carrots! She travelled OK (only 10 minutes from my place) and when we lowered the ramp she didn't come out straight away as she was too busy looking for bits of food left on the floor.....she's in the paddock here with the goats and has hardly made any noise, just got on with stuffing her face. She's not too sure about the goats though, she keeps her distance.....but she doesn't seem bothered about the chickens & ducks flapping around. She looks a bit lost to me, hopefully that will change when Skyfaxa arrives!

Halter training

Went to spend a bit of time with Noisette as she hasn't had any training at all and I will need to get her in a trailer soon! She learned pretty quickly to be lead by the headcollar, she's easy enough to deal with in familiar surroundings at least. She's very used to people but has never been out of her field, she was born there 6 years ago so maybe things will get more interesting once we take her out.......
Alienor took some video of us, she's not too practised at it, so apologies for any feelings of seasickness.....! As you can see, Noisette's little sister Isis was quite interested in the proceedings......
