We went to Derbyshire for our annual holiday this half term and I booked the usual hack out with friends. I got to ride the usual draft cross, this one was called Prince and was 17hh but was lovely and forward going......
We rode through some stunning scenery, but it was a bit chilly up on the hillside. Got to go for a little canter, Prince's legs were so long it was like cantering in slow motion after Gandalf!
When we got back, the kids had a little lead rein ride, my mate John rode the big horse I'd been on, here he is next to his son on a Shetland!
Éowyn rode a pony called Star and kept asking if they could trot (which they couldn't). Bit tame for her I suppose.......

....and the girls go on holiday
Took Sky and Kinna down to their summer pasture at my friend Sarah's place yesterday. They travelled really well, took a while to get Kinna in the trailer, but some carrots did the trick.
They were introduced to Sarah's two, Isba, an Anglo arab and Maverick, the mini mule. Didn't take them long to settle down and get on with the serious business of eating all that nice grass......
Here's a little video
I think they'll be fine, although we miss them!

Riding on the beach.....
Something I've always wanted to do is a beach ride and as we were on holiday on the Isle of Wight last week, we took the opportunity to do so. Lovely sunny day, went with some friends and their children, really enjoyed it!
and a Shire horse centre where they have a 5 year old gelding who's already 19hh and still growing........
We even got to do a little canter.....
Later in the week we went to Carisbrook Castle, where they have a wheel driven by donkeys to raise the well bucket!and a Shire horse centre where they have a 5 year old gelding who's already 19hh and still growing........
